Our Practice
A family-centered ABA practice where children and families are at the heart of everything we do.
Empowered Child Development was founded on a simple idea: behavioral therapy should feel like care, not compliance. Every part of our practice — from how we run sessions to how we communicate with parents — is shaped by that.
Our mission
We use Applied Behavior Analysis, grounded in real data, to empower neurodivergent kids and the families around them. Our care is compassionate and assent-based, and we work as a team so children build independence and learn to express who they really are in everyday life. Our analysts have more than 20 years of combined experience, and along the way they saw a problem: older, traditional ABA didn't account for what neurodivergent kids actually need, or for care that puts a child's autonomy first. We're reshaping ABA into something different. It's a tool for child development rooted in play, compassion, and connection, so kids can grow while feeling loved, respected, and supported. We meet children where they already are, at home, in their community, and at school, and we stay true to what the evidence shows works. That's why our mission is simple: Powered by play. Driven by progress.

What sets us apart
Clinical rigor without the coldness.
Every program is data-driven and BCBA-supervised, but every session feels like play.
Caregivers in the loop, always.
Parents are partners in the work, not spectators.
Bilingual by design.
Spanish-speaking families don't get a watered-down version of our care. They get the full thing, in the language that fits.
Funding navigation included.
We help families understand insurance, scholarship, and state-funded options without making them figure it out alone.
Meet the team

Laury Montes de Oca
Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Laury's work centers on bringing parents and families into the heart of their child's goals, and that's where she gets her strongest outcomes. She believes families should feel heard and included every step of the way, which keeps them active in the work and lowers the level of support a child needs over time.

Liz Keyes
Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Liz trains and mentors clinicians on their way to board certification, with an approach that stays clinically sound, ethical, and empathetic through treatment and goal-planning. Her gentle, assent-based teaching carries straight over into how the whole team works with young learners.
Our credentials
ECD clinicians work under the standards of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Families can review what those credentials mean — and what to expect from any board-certified clinician — on the BACB site. bacb.com
